This is a reader's letter published in our newspaper this week.
YOUR reader Emily Robinson claims [in a previous letter] that the traffic control measures being introduced by our council are ‘not supported by the vast majority of voters’.
Strange then, that in the recent Littlemore by-election the anti-LTN candidates were defeated by a pro-LTN candidate.
We currently have an obesity epidemic, a pollution crisis and a climate emergency.
We need to introduce measures to reduce car usage and encourage more short, local journeys to be made by active, zero emission forms of transport.
I’m proud that our council is taking measures such as LTNs.
Far from being hugely costly, such measures actually save money in the long run.
Conditions linked to physical inactivity cost the NHS billions every year, as do conditions caused by traffic pollution.
