* The Restaurant at Witney Lakes has got a new team in the kitchen headed up by Ryan Priddey, head chef from The Blue Boar in Longworth, formerly Oxfordshire Restaurant of the Year. He is joined by Pete Southley, currently the head chef of The Three Horseshoes in Witney.

* Can you stand the heat? Millets Farm Centre is challenging local residents during this weekend’s Chilli Fiesta to compete to be the fastest person to eat fiery chicken wings for the chance to win gift vouchers.
With stalls hosted by a variety of chilli producers from across the county and more than 21 different chillies to peruse, including the feared Naga and Trinidad Scorpion, there will be something to suit everyone from the mild to mind-blowing.
Children will enjoy the day too, with craft activities and live entertainment throughout the weekend featuring a Mariachi band.
For the green fingered, there will be 20 different varieties of chilli plant available to buy outside the garden centre, with expert advice and tastings available.

* The top entries and award winners from the 2016 Good Food Guide have been revealed.
In the top 50 pubs list, Oxfordshire boasts The Nut Tree Inn at Murcott, The Miller of Mansfield, The Lamb Inn, Crawley, The Star Inn, Sparsholt, The Five Alls and The Kingham Plough.
Restaurant-wise we managed just one entry at no 16 - Le Manoir.
* The Perch Inn is holding it’s third Annual Beer and Cider Festival this weekend to celebrate everything British; beer, cider, live music, food and fun, with a great line up of more than 30+ real ales and ciders from local brewers.
Try something new, from porters to light ales, ciders with a twist and bottled craft beers.
From noon till 10pm, the action will be held in the Perch gardens on Saturday and Sunday inside a large beer tent.
Gourmet burgers will be served up from The Shed Bar by Chef Steve alongside the full Perch menu which will be available all day and night.
To complete the festival atmosphere, great live music will be played across the weekend to keep guests entertained.
