Here are our top three foodie World Cup recommendations:

* St Aldates Tavern in Oxford is going all out between June 12 and July 13 by showing every fixture with the big games being shown in the Blue Room with crazy competitions, a World Cup menu and more.

Expect a Chimichurri burger with special cheese sauce for £9.50 and lots of drink promotions with pitchers being a priority.

The pub, in St Aldate’s, will also be having its very own inhouse World Cup Fifa Tournament.

* Las Iguanas in Park End Street is fully embracing the World Cup spirit this month by creating a limited edition cocktail available from June 12 to July 13.

The Victory combines Cava with Absolut Mango, passion fruit syrup and edible silk gold at £6 for one or £9 for two.

If you’re feeling hungry after all that football (watching), you can enjoy authentic Brazilian dishes such as Xinxim (creamy peanut lime chicken and known to be Pele’s favourite), Cha Cha Chorizo (slow brazed chorizo with onions in a red wine, tomato and Jalapeno sauce); or Churros, cinnamon-sugar dusted delights similar to doughnuts.

The football will be shown live on TV and table football matches will be kicking off for those who want to improve their football skills between matches.

Las Iguanas is also looking to sponsor three local junior football teams so get creative about why your team needs sponsorship for next season, whether that’s with an instagram video of keepy-uppys, a song, a poem or a video diary of your teams football skills. Check out Las Iguanas’ website for details and enter by July 13.

Las Iguanas have also teamed up with Chimu Adventures, the Latin American Travel Specialists, offering guests the chance to win one of three trips to Rio de Janeiro.

* Giraffe in George Street is going global for their World Burger Championship. To mark the upcoming summer of sport, they’ve knocked up nine on-the-ball burgers inspired by nine different countries. From 12 June– July 13, these meaty contenders will go head-to-head to compete for the giraffe World Burger Championships.

Each week a different group of global burgers take to the grill. Star players include England’s patriotic patty with smoky bacon, Cheddar cheese, a fried egg and HP sauce; Brazil’s blend of spicy grilled chicken, garlic and lime aioli, avocado, roasted red pepper tapenade and fresh mango pineapple salsa and France’s classy combination of beef, melting Roquefort, caramelised onions, fresh pear and rocket.

Divided into three weekly heats – Giraffe fans can grab one of the nine burgers with with skin-on fries and a Brahma beer for £11.95 from June 12 and vote for their favourite via @giraffetweet using #worldburgerchamps. The top three will play it out in the final between July 7-13.

Giraffe has also decided to bring back their Kids Eat Free deal for summer. Kicking off from July 21 – August 15, Monday to Friday, all little ones can have a kids meal deal (a mini main and drink) on the house when an adult meal is purchased.
