Take a look at this week's round-up of tasty offers and events around Oxfordshire

* The Oxford Beach is holding a charity volleyball tournament and three-course dinner at The Big Bang for Oxford businesses on Friday, June 27.

The Volleybang is in aid of Oxfordshire charities ROSY (Respite Care for Oxfordshire’s Sick Youngsters) and SpecialEffect (technology and computer games for disabled people).

If you are an Oxfordshire business willing to put forward teams of four to compete to become the Volleybang Beach Volleyball Champions 2014, go to volleybang.co.uk

Spectator tickets cost £40 and entry includes a three-course meal and evening music and dancing to Oxfordshire bands 1000 Mile Highway and The Standard.

* In the wake of fatgate, when Oxford ground to a halt as the city’s pipes were cleansed of industrial strength fat, Oxfordshire County Council has funded a food waste reduction programme called Too Good To Waste Oxfordshire in a bid to reduce food waste in the hospitality sector across the county.

‘Take me home boxes’ will be given to 100 participating local restaurants, pubs and cafes, in lieu of doggy bags and offered to customers who can then take their leftovers home.

The campaign will reduce food waste, and considering for every meal eaten in a UK restaurant, almost half a kilo of food is wasted through preparation, spoilage and what’s left behind on the plate, the move will help reduce landfill sites.

Join the campaign by calling 01295 722823 or see toogood-towaste.co.uk/ oxfordshire from May 12.

Award-winning Jack Bull, 24, is heading up the kitchen and putting his stamp on the pub’s menu by introducing new dishes such as a savoury tart with mushrooms, cheddar and spinach as well as Jack’s fantastic home-made Scotch eggs and brown sauce and his ‘JFC’ – James Figg Chicken, (free-range crispy fried chicken made with Jack’s own spicy marinade).
