I FEEL, like many people, that the chosen route for corteges carrying the bodies of fallen servicemen leaving RAF Brize Norton will show a lack of dignity.
The gate in question is not suitable for the families involved to have to watch their loved ones leaving by the back door.
When the time comes, I’m sure a lot of people nationwide will be horrified to watch, after seeing the way the people of Wootton Bassett have treated each repatriation with great respect.
The deceased should leave by the same gate as they entered when going to Afghanistan.
There is no need to enter Carterton if they turn right after leaving the main gate.
I hope before September the people involved will reconsider and arrange a more dignified exit from the base.
BRIAN JONES, Eynsham
