With reference to the recent correspondence about Waterstock Golf Course, it is thought provoking that there has not been one letter agreeing with Oxfordshire County Council or Waterstock Parish Meeting in pursuing Wyatt Brothers through the court.

It seems that most are either not in agreement with the waste of our money on something so unworthy or are simply not interested.

As a resident of South Oxfordshire district, I object to money being wasted on this issue and think it could be better spent on other more worthy things.

I could not understand the reasoning behind the strong objections of Michael Tyce, chairman of Waterstock Parish Meeting.

It is a golf course in the countryside - it is not an eyesore and it would hardly be noticed as out of place or having contours that cause people to worry about the loss of green space.

But after reading Ron Wyatt's letter, in which he says Mr Tyce's evidence at the 1999 inquiry was described as "unreliable" (Oxford Mail, October 30), it has become very clear that there is in fact a "witch-hunt" going on.

One of your correspondents suggested an Oxford Mail investigation into the gross miscalculation of waste presented to the inquiry by the council.

How did the council get it so wrong? Surely now is the time for the council to "move on and get over it"?
