WHY is it that the Jack Letts (Terror squad looks into ‘Jihadi Jack’ claims, January 27) true story isn’t believed?

That a young man from Oxford has sought, is seeking, with altruism and at great personal risk, to help in any humanitarian way he can to ameliorate the tragedy which has befallen Syria, is in itself a remarkable story.

Those of us with children the same age as Jack Letts can’t begin to imagine how these last two years have been for the Letts family, now made infinitely worse by the irresponsible inventions of the worst elements of the UK press.

So please, please, please Oxford Mail, from now on do not talk about ‘Jihadi Jack’: this cheap alliteration brings you down to the level of the gutter press!
