WHILE I sympathise with the Lloyds Bank staff in Headington who were traumatised after the branch was robbed at gunpoint last Saturday morning, I am astounded by Lloyds.
A few years ago it dismantled the screen that offered a certain amount of protection to staff.
In its wisdom it decided that an open plan system would be more customer friendly.
Since then the branch has been targeted by armed robbers three times since January 2009.
Surely an open plan system is a big temptation for potential thieves as they have access to the back of the counters.
It would also be some sort of deterrent to see PCSOs back in this shopping area. The saying ‘once in a blue moon’ springs to mind.
