IT IS now two years since I first wrote to Horspath Parish Council proposing we erect a permanent stone war memorial as a fitting tribute to all those from this parish who, in the two world wars, made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our freedom as we know it today.

In those two years since the only thing the parish council has done positively towards it is organise a questionnaire asking the residents what they think. The result was three to one in favour.

Other than that, all the council has done is make excuses and say why it cannot or should not be done.

My idea was and is not about me or the parish council.

It is to create a fitting tribute to those who gave us the freedom we enjoy today and if the parish council wish to turn this into something it is not, they should grow up and stop being so childish and do something positive that the residents want for a change.
