TODAY (May 2) I received a letter from Oxfordshire County Council with regards to CPZ being introduced in the Lye Valley area.

Why should we have to pay for parking permits when it is cars belonging to hospital and university workers who are double parking on our roads? If there was an emergency in the Bullingdon Community Centre it would hamper ambulance and fire engine access.

Why can’t the field on the right-hand side of the Eastern Bypass going towards Headington, once the site of several homes which are now derelict, be used as a park and ride for both hospital and university staff? They could run their own bus for staff.

I believe this field is owned by one of the universities and would solve all of our parking issues in the area.

Oxford University has received planning approval to develop its Old Road campus, but no arrangements have been made for all the extra staff they will employ who own cars. This is going to congest the roads each morning and evening.

Why should we who live nearby suffer? We paid our council tax and should be able to park outside our homes without permits.

How would the people who park daily like us to go to their homes at weekends and park outside their homes?

I think they too would be up in arms about these extra cars converging outside their homes. No, I do not want CPZ at all.
