I NOTICED an error with regard to the article on the military (April 8).
The caption under the top left hand photograph says The Royal Green Jackets march through High Street, Oxford, in 1954. Well, The Royal Green Jackets weren’t formed until 1966.
In 1958 The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry were linked together with The King’s Royal Rifle Corps and The Rifle Brigade to form, respectively, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions The Green Jackets Brigade.
Then, on January 1, 1966, the three were grouped together to form a single large Regiment and re-named The Royal Green Jackets.

EDITOR’S NOTE: We apologise for the error and the correct information is that the photo is of the 4th Battalion of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.
