How can we be involved when we have not been told? Where are local community noticeboards that could provide advance information which will affect our community? Oxford City Council’s Northeast Area Forum (The Insider, October 30, 2014) had only one resident attending because no one knew. (Notification one day before the meeting, Oxford Mail, October 21, 2014 is not good enough.)

The Flood Forum, held by Oxford City Council at the Town Hall on October 16, didn’t allow the public to question the service providers present – Thames Water, The Environment Agency, Oxfordshire County Council, Vale of the White Horse District Council and Network Rail.

At the meeting Thames Water announced that they will review Oxford’s sewerage system.

Cllr Roy Darke, Oxford City Councillor, (October 23) – and a former Oxfordshire County Councillor too – proudly claimed an achievement promoting the installation of sewerage storage tanks beneath Croft Road recreation ground and Court Place Farm. These provisions are agreed to be not fit for purpose.

It will be interesting to know how Thames Water proposes to solve this unacceptable situation for Marston and Northway residents.

Today’s letters

Why didn’t the Environment Agency inform the public at the forum about its consultation that the public can comment on until January 31, 2015 regarding “Review of the river basin management plan for the Thames river basin district” instead publishing details in the public notice section of the newspaper the next day, October 17, 2014?

At the meeting the Environment Agency told attendees that there were no plans for the Western Conveyance Channel – it wanted suggestions to be put forward for consideration.
