The Tories must be getting desperate. David Cameron is pledging to curb free movement of people inside the European Union. The Prime Minister knows such a curb is illegal and completely against the idea of a strong, united Europe.
The MP for Witney understands deep down that Britain is better off inside the EU. How would the Health Service operate without foreign doctors and nurses? How long would the German-owned Mini car plant stay in Oxford if we left the EU?
The UKIP extremists may try to blame everything on Brussels and immigration. But it’s nonsense. Low wages are the fault of penny-pinching employers. Housing shortages the fault of the Government not building enough homes.
Mr Cameron should stand up against the Little Englanders inside and outside his party.
