I had a look at the Frideswide Square/Station masterplan. I noted that the plan does not show bicycle racks near the station nor seem to have clearly defined bicycle lanes in Frideswide Square.
Given that the relocation of bus traffic from Gloucester Green to the railway station will increase the number of buses driving through Frideswide Square, it is absolutely essential that the planners pay attention to the advice given by cycling groups such as Cyclox.
According to the Frideswide plan, the lanes that are running under the railway bridge are to join the main traffic at the roundabout in front of the station. I try to imagine how this would work (or rather not work) and I can easily see that without dedicated bicycle lanes there are serious traffic accidents waiting to happen.
This is worse than the current situation. To be a bit polemical: How many bus drivers or for that matter car or lorry drivers have been killed by cyclists in Oxford? None. Oxford needs dedicated cycle lanes.
