WHAT a disagreeable load of nonsense by A Green (April 6).

Something I find particularly unpleasant is that politicians keep repeating, ad infinitum, ‘It’s the last Labour Government which got us into this mess’. He knows very well, as do the politicians, what caused the slump, and, since it affected nearly all countries, with the possible exception of China, it could hardly have been caused by our Government.

When ministers keep trying to shift blame onto their predecessors, one immediately suspects that they are in trouble and are looking for a scapegoat. Why can't they accept that those who went before them did what they thought was best for the country and just shut up ?

I felt that the 13 years of Labour rule were some of the happiest of times and can anyone recall Tony Blair blaming his predecessors?

All Governments make mistakes and the last Labour Government was no exception. Local government is not immune from making a hash of things as well – one only has to look at the record of the Oxford City Council to realise that.
