OXFORDSHIRE Business Enterprises, which helps would-be entrepreneurs, has appointed Cherwell District Council's former chief executive, Grahame Handley, as its chairman.
Mr Handley, who lives in Deddington, retired from the council in March 2006. During his 15 years with the council he made economic development his main priority - and he is no stranger to the world of business support, having been a board member of Norbis, the former enterprise agency for north Oxfordshire.
Mr Handley said: "I am keen to build on the solid foundations laid down by former chairman Bob Langton and will endeavour to encourage a sustainable financial future for the organisation so it can continue to deliver business support services for start-up businesses.
"OBE's strength is the quality and business experience of our volunteer advisors and their commitment to our clients."
Executive director Chris Carr said: "We are pleased to be working with Grahame. The board is confident that his vast knowledge and experience will be of great benefit ."
