BANBURY'S John Spratt and Rennie Johnston lost in their semi-final of the over 65 men’s doubles at the British Senior Open Championships.
After losing the first set 6-2 to top seeds Gerd Dahmen (Germany) and Jeremy Woods (GB), they fought back to win the second 6-4.
However, they were second best in the tie-break, going down 10-2.
Cholsey’s Jon Merrifield and partner Anthony Marchetti suffered a similar fate in the over 60 doubles.
They went down 6-1, 6-3 to No 2 seeds and eventual winners Michael Dawe and Benson Greatrex.
ABINGDON'S Matilda Mutavdzic continued her fine form in the national nine and under event in Oxstalls, Gloucester.
The youngster won all three group matches before losing to eventual winner Jaquelyn Ogunwale, from Bedfordshire, 7-2, 7-3.
PATRISIA Radan won the eight and under red tournament at St Hugh’s School, Faringdon, defeating home player Katie Baker in the final 10-6.
In the boys’ event, Newbury’s Charlie Charles beat Lower Windrush’s Joshua Sharff 10-9.
