North Oxford’s men compiled a 3-1 win over Abingdon to go top of Division 1 in the OLTA Wilson League.
The win puts North two points clear of Banbury B, and keeps them in with a chance of winning the men’s, ladies and mixed top divisions this season.
Witney boosted their hopes of beating the drop with a 2-2 draw over Banbury A.
They will need to get positive results against fellow strugglers Abingdon and Norham Gardens in their next two games to complete the escape.
NORTH Oxford host a free open day at the Banbury Road club on Sunday (9am–3pm).
The club have a mix of hard and grass courts.
The open day is in addition to the Florence Park events, which take place tomorrow and on Sunday.
