Chris Wilder believes all the pressure is on Luton at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night in the battle of the Blue Square Premier’s unbeaten teams.

Having established a four-point cushion over third-placed Luton, leaders Oxford United have replaced the Hatters as the bookies’ favourites for the title.

The league sponsors now make the U’s 7-4 shots to be champions, with Luton 2-1.

But the Hatters’ array of quality players mean expectations are inevitably high at Kenilworth Road.

U’s boss Wilder is hoping his players can go out and play in a relaxed manner in front of what looks set to be a very big gate – possibly close to 9,000.

And he will have no need to motivate his team for the contest.

“The Luton game takes care of itself,” he said. “We’ll try and play our normal game and make the players relaxed, and enjoy the football.

“It’s not the be-all and end-all, it’s a cracking game for our players to test ourselves against the best in the league.

“All over the pitch they’ve got quality players and I think it will be a proper match with both teams wanting to win.”

Hatters’ former U’s midfielder, Andy Burgess, looks set to miss the match with a hamstring injury, but another ex-Oxford player, Steve Basham, may be on the bench.

Wilder may be tempted to keep an unchanged team after Saturday’s 2-0 win at Ebbsfleet, or he may want to just stiffen up one or two areas.

Defenders Claude Gnakpa and Alan White are injury concerns for Luton.
