Riley A claimed a dramatic victory in the final of the Stephen Reiss Cup – lifting the crown despite losing the match to Oxford Bowls Club.
The three-man Oxford & District League competition sees one point awarded for each victory, and then two for the team with the highest aggregate scores.
And it was the 200-136 victory by Lewis Moss over Doug Howse that proved the crucial success for Riley.
Terry Gripe gave Bowls Club the lead with a 200-180 win over Malcolm Bough in the opening match.
Moss then levelled with his victory over Howse, meaning the destiny of the cup came down to the match between Peter Astall, from the Bowls Club, and Gary Bough.
Although Astall came out on top, the winning margin of 200-162 was not quite enough as Riley’s 542-536 aggregate victory gave them overall success.
Meanwhile, Adam Brown will meet Lee Richardson in the final of the Oxford Times Cup.
Brown beat Paul Robinson 500-445 in the semi-finals, while the in-form Richardson thumped Malcolm Bough 500-202.
