HORSPATH Hammers riders dominated the prestigious|Ade Gale Laurels meeting at Poole, taking both senior and junior titles.

Lukasz Nowacki won the senior crown, followed by clubmates Zac Payne and Will Jeffery, who had earlier taken the under 18 competition.

Nowacki stormed to three effortless wins to lead the field, just ahead of Payne, who dropped an early point.

After both won their fourth races from unfavourable grid positions, the title chase went to the wire.

In his last ride, Payne shot away, and with Jeffery not keen to wipe him out at the first corner, went on to triumph easily and sit on top of the standings.

The pressure was on Nowacki, who had to win his final outing to retain the crown.

After trailing Ipswich’s Ashley Hill for nearly three laps, the Horspath ace made his move and with a great inside pass, sped to victory.

Earlier, there was a similarly dramatic climax as Jeffery added to his growing reputation by landing the under 18 title.

It came down to a last-race duel between Jeffery and Lewis Brinkoff (Kesgrave).

Brinkoff hit the front, but on lap two the Hammers rider shot up the inside going into the third and fourth bends to take the lead.

As Brinkoff attempted to block the attack, he slipped off, falling into Jeffery’s back wheel, both riders hitting the deck.

Jeffery jumped to his feet to complete the race as his rival lay on ther track, having injured his ankle.

So Jeffery took the Dave Lanning Trophy in memory of the legendary speedway commentator.

Horspath are today hosting the Robyn Carter Memorial meeting (2pm).
