BLACK Prince underlined their Greene King Oxford & District League title credentials with a superb victory over Woodman, writes ANDY BEAL.

The Premier Division leaders cruised to a 3-0 victory in a match that saw four sixes.

Prince set 33 in the opening leg, with their rivals managing only 24 in reply.

Woodman scored 24 again in the second, which was never enough as the table-toppers cruised to 30.

The final leg though was a much closer affair.

A target of 21 should have been a formality for Prince, but their first four players managed only six between them.

However, they were saved by their teammates, with their last four players hitting 17 betweem them, with Mick Phipps hitting a six to win the leg with 23.

Phipps (4-3-6), Rob Bradford (5-4-4) and Ian McAteer (5-4-4) all hit 13 for Prince.

Barry Ruffels was in tremendous form, clanging off 15 dolls (5-5-5) to lead Garsington Sports Club A to a 3-0 home win against Six Bells E Kidlington.

Although the opening leg was a closely-fought affair, Garsington edged to a 23-21 success, the next two were straight forward with 26-19,

31-22 scorelines.

Chequers C started well in their match at Swan B, winning the first leg 27-22.

But their rivals hit back to take the next two legs 24-22 and 28-26 to seal victory.

Daryal Simpson (4-5-4) and Mark Revell (4-4-5) both hit a baker’s dozen for Swan, while Roger Alder (4-4-5) did likewise for Chequers.

Three Pigeons lost their third game on the bounce, this time going down 2-1 at home to George A.

Neil Lyon was top dog for Pigeons (5-4-4), while Kevin Stuart (6-4-3) bagged himself a six in a 13-doll haul for George.

Bullnose Morris A made it five wins out of five in Section 2, claiming a 3-0 triumph at home to Donnington Club A.

Tiddington Cricket Club stay in second spot after whitewashing Garsington Sports B 22-18, 22-15, 25-18.

Masons Arms A finally got a win under their belt in Section 3, coming from behind to win 2-1 at Queens Head A.

Vikings Sports Club B lead Section 4 by one point after cruising past visitors Green Road Club 3-0 with leg scores of 19-11, 17-11, 15-9.

In Section 5, Democrats A are on a roll.

After winning their first game for 12 weeks, they made it two victories on the bounce when beating Florence Park B 3-0 in leg scores of 20-16, 12-11, 13-9.

Richard Wyness led the way with 13 dolls (4-5-4).

In Section 6, Glyn Millard (5-4-4) rolled back the years for Vikings Sports D, hitting a baker’s dozen as they beat Marston British Legion 2-1.

North Oxford Conservative Club are still winless after losing at home to Prince of Wales 3-0, although it was a lot closer than the score shows.

The hosts did just enough for maximum points with leg scores of 12-10, 11-10, 11-7.
