GROVE’S Alex Lynn is looking forward to making his Aston Martin Racing debut in the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Spa this weekend.

Aston Martin have developed an all-new Vantage for GTE class competition, which will take on BMW, Ferrari, Ford and Porsche.

He said: “To say I’m excited about it would be a massive understatement.

“We’ve been to Monza, Spa, Paul Ricard, Sebring, Navarra, Motorland Aragon and Abu Dhabi, simulating as many conditions that we’ll encounter over the WEC and the Le Mans 24 Hours.

“There’s been no stone left unturned in this programme, and a lot of resource and manpower have been thrown at the new car.

“So, we think we know where we’re at, but now it’s time to find out for sure.”

Lynn was disappointed with 14th in the FIA Formula E Championship race in Paris last week.

Driving for DS Virgin Racing, he had been in confident mood before the contest on their home track

“Everything felt good, and we were quite optimistic, but it just didn’t happen,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chipping Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw returns to action in the Super GT Championship for the second round at the Fuji Speedway in Japan this weekend.

The Autobacs Racing Team Aguridriver claimed victory at the circuit last year and is confident of claiming some silverware this weekend.
