BRADLEY Smith recorded his best finish of the MotoGP season with 14th place at Jerez.
The Forest Hill rider’s two points saw him leapfrog Red Bull KTM teammate Pol Espargaro, who crashed out, in the standings.
Smith qualified 16th and had a solid race, finishing less than ten seconds behind championship leader Valentino Rossi, who came home tenth.
It was another step forward for the new factory team and the 26-year-old will get the chance to spend more valuable time on the bike today with a test session at the circuit.
Dani Pedrosa won the race, ahead of Repsol Honda teammate Marc Marquez, while Ducati’s Jorge Lorenzo completed the all-Spanish podium.
The next round is at Le Mans on May 21.
