FELIPE Massa made it two encouraging days in a row for Williams in the final Formula 1 pre-season test in Barcelona.

The Brazilian clocked the quickest lap on Tuesday and the Grove-based team were further boosted as he was second fastest yesterday morning, when he was only edged out by Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes.

But the veteran was not just buoyed by his good pace.

He said: “We managed to do 168 laps so for the car, the team, and the reliability, it was definitely a great day.”

Rookie teammate Lance Stroll accumulated some useful experience.

The 18-year-old Canadian was fifth fastest, just over two seconds behind Massa.

The test continues today ahead of the conclusion tomorrow, when it will be the final chance to run the cars before the opening round in Melbourne on March 26.
