OXFORD Hawks routed Oxfordshire neighbours Henley for the second time this season with a convincing 7-1 away victory.

This followed Hawks’ resounding 8-0 success in the clubs’ previous meeting in the South League Premier 1.

Jack Biggs opened the scoring with a drilled penalty corner after ten minutes, and Ted Bennett scored a second soon after.

Toby Blong finished off a fine move involving Biggs and Matt Wood to make it 3-0 at half-time.

The onslaught continued after the break.

Alex Williams fired an unstoppable reverse-stick shot before Dan Rhodes added a fifth from a switched penalty corner routine.

Matt Wood added a late double, the first following good play by Tom Godding.

Henley’s late goal was scant consolation in a defeat which sees them slip into the relegation zone, while Hawks cemented fourth place in the table.

Oxford stayed in the Regional Division 1 promotion race with a 2-0 victory away to Milton Keynes 2nd.

Jonny Campbell and Niall Devaney scored the goals as Oxford stayed fourth, just one point off the pace.

Oxford Hawks 2nd, who are also in the hunt, drew 2-2 at home to leaders Wycombe, thanks to strikes from Matt Janes and Tom Lawson.

Rory Heaslip and Ben Moss both scored twice as leaders Witney won 4-1 away to West Hampstead 3rd to go eight points clear at the top of Middlesex, Berks Bucks & Oxon Division 1.
