OXFORD Hawks scored twice in a minute as they came from behind to beat visitors Exe 2-1 in Investec Women’s Conference West.

The Devon side took the lead after 20 minutes when a rebound was converted after the initial shot had been blocked.

This served as a wake-up call for Hawks, who won several penalty corners and forced the Exe keeper into some fantastic reflex saves.

Bex Oakes saw her strike narrowly miss the post, while Sophie Shakespeare’s instinctive first time effort was brilliantly parried.

Hawks equalised with a well-worked corner routine, finished by Lucy Stewart.

A minute later the home side struck again, taking advantage of Exe being down to nine players, with Katie Hewitt’s diving cross finding Jo Tolson who finished well.

The second half continued to have plenty of chances at both ends but produced no more goals.

Abi Flory came close with a great strike, and Catherine Reaney saw a volleyed shot well saved.

Floor Timmer scored a hat-trick as Oxford won 4-2 at Teddington in South Clubs League Division 2.

Timmer netted twice early on – the second from Meg Scott’s well-struck corner – and Oxford seemed to be cruising when Beth Williamson made it 3-0.

A goal either side of the interval brought the home side back into the game before Christy Barnard crossed for Timmer to complete her hat-trick with a deft touch over the keeper.

Teddington pulled back another goal, but Harriet Wilkinson proved resolute in defence and Oxford held on for three points.

A brilliant penalty save by keeper Julia Nichols gave Witney a notable 1-0 win at leaders Hampstead & Westminster 2nd in Division 3A.

Witney broke the deadlock in the second half, Ellie Kearney deflecting the ball in from a penalty corner.

Hampstead came back strongly and were awarded a penalty flick, but Nichols proved equal to the task.
