OXFORD Saints went top of the Division 2 Southern Conference West as their storming start to the season continued with a 58-7 win at Torbay Trojans.
James Walter led the charge with three of the visitors’ eight touchdowns as they made it three wins out of three.
The tone for a dominant performance was set early on, when linebacker Sam Stancombe tackled a Trojans running back in his own end zone for a two-point safety.
Rob Johnson extended the lead before the end of the first quarter, scoring from a six-yard drive to put Saints 9-0 up.
Running back Antonios Athanasiou sprinted over from 13 yards to begin a second quarter in which the visitors put the game to bed.
His score was followed by a hat-trick for Walter, the first coming from a Bilal Redd interception, which sent Saints in at half-time with a crushing 37-0 lead.
Tom Swift, Tyson Blackstock and Rich Bloomer continued the rout with touchdowns in the second half, before Trojans claimed a score of their own to avoid being shut out.
Saints are on the road again for their next clash, at Jurassic Coast Raptors in Dorchester on Sunday, May 22.
