DARREN Wright (Sensas A4) won the practice match for the fourth round of the Oxford Winter League, fished on the Brimslade and Farmers Sections of the Kennet and Avon Canal.
There were plenty of small fish for the 36 competitors, but it needed a bonus catch to make the frame.
Wright had a bream and perch, caught on squatt, for a winning weight of 8lb 12oz.
Clubmate Steve Palmer was second with 8.10.0, with Drennan Oxford’s Pete Scott (7.10.0) third.
James Barrett had a roach-dominated catch of 15.10.0 to win Kidlington AS’s match at Barfdord St Michael.
Henry Clarke was runner-up with 11.10.0, with Dave Pether third on 10.15.0.
A catch of just 3.11.8 was enough to give Geoff Broome victory in Tackley Estates’ match at Long Meadow, where ten fished.
Frank Malone was second with 2.11.0, followed by Anthony Alder in third with 2.2.0.
