Three fencers from the thriving Cowley-based Salle Oxon club have been selected for the British under 17 and 20 squads this season.
Kayleigh de Lange, a 16-year-old from Bicester, is listed at the top of the British rankings in her age group following a strong result in Slovakia.
She and her 15 year old Ben Attias, from Kennington, will be in action at a European Cadet Foil competition in Austria this weekend.
Kayleigh’s 18-year-old brother, Kieran, will join the British under 20s foil squad for a junior World Cup event in Bratislava later this month.
All three learned the sport with their coach, Steven Williams, at Salle Oxon five years ago.
Willams, himself, had been a British junior international and represented Wales at the Commonwealth Championships in Scotland last year.
Salle Oxon run two evenings a week at St Gregory the Great School in Cowley for children aged eight to 18.
They also organise a weekly, advanced foil training session for adults.
