ABINGDON’S Eddie Pepperell has work to do after a level par round of 72 in the Italian Open.

The Frilford Heath member recorded 16 pars in Milan, and is nine shots behind overnight leader Nicolas Colsaerts.

Pepperell, who climbed to a career-high world ranking of 80 this week, went under par with a birdie on his ninth hole of the day.

But a bogey immediately followed, before eight more pars wrapped up his round.

It leaves Pepperell, who tees off his second round at 12.20 (BST) today, needing a decent performance to maintain his impressive record of making ten of the last 11 cuts.
