SIX Bells A Kidlington need just two more points to be crowned Section 4 champions in the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

A 3-0 win at the Pheasant Inn A saw them stretch their lead over Masons Arms A to 11 points.

Tony Nicholls led the way with an opening six in his 11-doll haul.

Second place Masons Arms lost ground when they went down 2-1 to Rose Hill Club B.

Roger Goodall clanged off 15 dolls (4-6-5) as Six Bells C Kidlington consolidated their position at the top of the Premier Section, with a 3-0 win at Black Prince B.

Woodman dropped a leg in a 2-1 victory at Garsington Sports Club A.

After racing into a 2-0 lead, they failed to claim maximum points, losing the third 24-21.

Barry Ruffles whipped off 13 dolls (4-6-3) for Garsington.

In Section 2, Bullnose Morris A pulled two points clear at the top after beating title rivals Ampleforth Arms B 3-0.

Willy Waite clanged of four to win the opener by the odd doll, before Bullnose comfortably secured maximum points.

Red Lion B Eynsham made it seven straight wins and moved up to second, with a 2-1 win over Kennington Social Club.

However, they lost the first 19-15, but Red Lion took the second on three sticks before wrapping up the decider 18-14.

Steve Walton hit 12 dolls (4-6-2).

Despite dropping a leg against Golden Ball A, Rose Hill Club A remain in contention for the title at three points back.

In Section 3, Griffin suffered a setback in a 3-0 defeat to Brill Club B.

They were denied a point in the last leg, losing it on three sticks.

Chequers A scored more dolls than visitors Vikings Sports A (56-54) but were beaten 2-1.

The hosts set 14 in the opener, and in reply anchor man Pete Kennett clanged off four in a 12- doll haul to win it by the odd doll.

Vikings set and won the second 22-21, but Chequers got a deserved point in the final leg 21-17.

Section 5 leaders New Club B lost the first leg, but recovered to beat Green Road Club 2-1.

Stuart Wells top-scored with 11 (4-2-5) as North Oxford Con Club claimed a 3-0 win over Vikings Sports C.

Rose Hill Club C lead Section 6 by a point after coming from behind to beat Six Bells D Kidlington 2-1.

Meanwhile, King & Queen pinched the decider 21-20 to earn a 2-1 triumph against the Three Horseshoes.

James Ormrod hit ten dolls as Red Lion C Eynsham beat Seacourt Bridge 3-0.

Berkshire House A moved a point clear in Section 7 with a 3-0 home victory against third-placed Red Lion Yarnton.

The hosts were never really in trouble and won 17-15, 23-15, 21-13.

Northway Club A dropped the first leg at Florence Park Club B, but recovered to win the next two.

Gary Rees whipped off 11 dolls as the Blackbird earned maximum points against Red Lion B Marston.

After winning a high-scoring first leg, which was tied 18-18, on one-stick, Blackbird never looked back and won it 3-0.

Mick Cox clanged off 14 dolls as basement boys Northway Club B shocked leaders Donnington Club B 2-1 at home in Section 8.

The hosts won the opener on three sticks and claimed the second 17-10.

Donnington scraped a point on three sticks in the final leg.

STEVENTON Sports Club is hosting a five-a-side competition on August 30.

There will also be a BBQ, beer festival, bouncy castles, face painting and a falconry display.

The event starts at 1pm and the aunt sally begins at 2pm, with a disco held in the evening.
