A 16-DOLL haul for Jon Townsend was in vain as Six Bells C Kidlington’s unbeaten record was ended by Woodman in the Greene King Oxford & District League.

However, Six Bells are still top of the Premier Section despite the 2-1 defeat, with Woodman seven points behind in second.

They headed into the match as the only team in the league to still boast an unbeaten record.

Six Bells won the opener 31-22, before the hosts claimed the second 34-23.

In the decider, the visitors set 29 and Woodman anchor man Paul Bennett clanged off five to take it to three sticks.

After it was tied 12-12, Woodman won it on a one-stick shoot-out.

Townsend returned 5-5-6 for his impressive 16-doll haul, while teammates Andy Beal (4-3-6) and Ray Townsend (6-4-3) each clanged off 13.

Neil Pratley (4-5-5) and Bennett (3-6-5) whipped off 14 for Woodman.

Graham Wilsdon hit 14 dolls as Black Prince A beat Gladiators 2-1 to boost their Section 1 title hopes.

After the first two legs were tied, Black Prince won the third 32-29 for victory.

Garsington Sports A picked up just their second win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Ampleforth Arms A.

Bullnose Morris A edged a point clear in Section 2 after beating fifth-placed Golden Ball A 3-0.

Just two points covers the top four, with five matches remaining.

Bullnose lead on 27 points, with Red Lion B Eynsham, Rose Hill Club A and Ampleforth B among the chasing pack.

Golden Ball, who are now seven points off the top, set the first leg with 20, but Bullnose anchor man Willy Waite clanged off five to give his side an early lead.

After taking the second 20-14, Bullnose claimed maximum points on one stick when the third was tied 20-20.

Tony Bull smashed off 15 dolls (5-5-5) to guide Florence Park Club A to a 2-1 home win over Six Bells A Quarry.

Florence Park won the opener 24-18, but lost the next 25-26. However, they went onto secure victory in the decider 26-23.

Kevin Stuart inspired Rose Hill to a narrow 2-1 victory against Red Lion A Kidlington.

Needing five to win the first leg and four to take the second, Stuart duly obliged to give Rose Hill a 2-0 lead.

But he could not repeat his antics in the final leg, which the visitors claimed 21-19. Dan Sellar’s 14-doll haul helped Section 3 leaders Crown come from behind to beat Vikings Sports A 2-1.

Six Bells A Kidlington have one hand on the Section 4 crown after recording their 12th win of the season in a 2-1 triumph over Masons Arms A.

In a close match, Six Bells won the first two legs 14-11, 22-20, before losing the third 16-15.

Despite Mark Prince failing to trouble the doll, Donnington Club C still managed to beat Chequers B 3-0 in Section 5.

Peter Flaherty hit ten dolls as they ran out 17-11, 18-15, 15-14 winners.

Leaders New Club B pulled further away at the top with a 3-0 home win against Vikings Sports C.

Barry Gilding led the way with 13 dolls (4-4-5).

Second-placed King & Queen beat leaders Rose Hill Club C 2-1 to close the gap at the top of Section 6 to one point.

King & Queen won the first 16-10, and the second on three sticks.

However, Rose Hill grabbed a point by winning the third 12-11.

Steve Bennett starred with 11 dolls (4-3-4) as Northway Club A moved level with Berkshire House at the top of Section 7 after a 3-0 win against Blackbird.

Catherine Wheel finally won a match at the 13th attempt with a 3-0 win at the Democrats.

Steve Ledwell clanged off a baker’s dozen as Original Swan A beat Kidlington Football Club 3-0 in Section 8.

Graham Reading also hit 13 to help Red Lion B Cassington overcome Northway B 2-1.
