CHRIS Webb rattled off a sixer in a 14-doll haul as Ampleforth Arms C closed the gap at the top of Section 2.

Just a point now separates second placed Ampleforth and leaders Rose Hill Club A, who dropped a leg in a 2-1 win over Vikings Sports B.

Ampleforth took full advantage by recording a convincing 3-0 victory against Six Bells A Quarry.

They hit 30 in the opening leg when chasing Six Bells’ set of 20, before taking the next 25-19.

With the third tied 21-21, anchorman Webb hit all three in the shoot-out to seal maximum points.

In Rose Hill’s win over Vikings, anchorman Kevin Stuart clanged off the five dolls needed to take the lead, before they won the second 29-18.

However, they went onto lose the last 25-17.

Third-placed Bullnose Morris A remained within three points after a 2-1 win at Kennington Social Club.

Steve Christy’s sixer was not enough as Cricketers Arms Cowley stayed bottom of Section 3 after losing 2-1 at Vikings Sports A.

Mark Washington was in excellent form as he clanged off 13 dolls (5-4-4) for the Vikings as they won the first two legs 17-15 and 27-20.

Cricketers claimed the last leg 19-18.
