Peter Vickers (Headington) and Isaac Woods (Shipton-underWychwood) surprised themselves when winning the silver medal in the boys doubles at the Herefordshire under 15 bronze tournament.
The Oxfordshire lads had miscalculated the scores in their initial rounds and were leaving when the tournament organiser flagged their car down and brought them back to play the final.
There they lost to Herefordshire’s Brandon Adams and William McGill.
Oxfordshire’s Bronwynn Ready, from Long Wittenham, and Didcot’s Maisie Marriott won gold in the girls doubles.
The pair beat some strong competition before taking the final 21-10 against Aimie and Lucie Whiteman, from Wales.
Marriott also took bronze in the singles, losing in the semi-final to the eventual champion Rosheen Postelwhite, of Wiltshire.
Christian Mitchell, of Woodstock, won a bronze medal at the Bucks under 13 gold tournament in Milton Keynes.
Mitchell and Toby Leung, of Dorset, won their first two matches easily before beating Callum Smith and Kenneth Cheung of Scotland 21-19,19-21, 21-19.
The pair lost 21-12, 21-16 to Danish pair Mads Moeller and Magnus Johannesen in the semi.
