Didcot Conservative Club were knocked off top spot in Section 1 of the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford League.

A 4-1 defeat at the hands of West Oxford Democrats Club allowed Masons to take over at the summit, even though they too lost, 3-2 against Kennington Club.

Democrats, from the Premier Section, had the match sewn up after three matches, with Eddie Tebby (5,580), Billy Hill (4,670) and Richard Garrett (8,710, breaks 4,360 & 4,350) all victorious.

Dennis Atkins pulled one back, scoring 10,360 including a break of 7,600 to make it 3-1.

Terry Green then won Democrats’ fourth point with a win over Jenny Florey.

Masons went a point clear despite their defeat at home to Kennington, who are now joint top with Vikings Club in the top-flight, after the latter triumphed 4-1 at Marlborough Club.

On a tricky top, Pete Ewins won against the break to defeat Callum Bowler, before Allan Lacey and Bob Allsworth made it 3-0.

Chris Iagoe pulled a game back after inflicting Alan Olivers first defeat of the season.

But Ian Moss claimed Vikings’ fourth point with a narrow win over Chris Bateman after both players lost winning breaks.
