BANBURY lightweight Ashley Banks will take on Bradford’s Rahul Gondalia (Karmand BC) in the final of the England Junior Novice Championships in Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey, tonight.
Banks, who lives in Bicester, reached the 63kg showdown after a split decision against Dan Mugialzon (Hooks BC) in Grove Park, London.
Banks took control of the fight in the second round, repeatedly using his superior reach and speed.
Although Mugialzon came forward aggressively in the final round, Banks had done enough to secure his place in the final.
Meanwhile, Bicester middleweight professional Daza Usher got back to winning ways with a unanimous decision against Bristol’s Dan Sarkozi at the City Academy.
Despite sporting a cut above his right eye, collected in the second round, Usher finished the contest strongly, winning 39-37 on the judges’ scorecards.
