Kidlington motorcycle racer Georgina Polden broke a finger in a nasty crash at Donington Park.

Polden, who started 11th on the grid, was lying ninth in the main race of the weekend on Sunday, and was close in touch with the leading pack when the accident happened.

It left her with a broken third finger on her left hand.

She said: “I was sure I could pass the pack in the fast few laps.

“Unfortunately my plan did not work.

“As I entered the Coppice corner, the rear wheel tried to highside me.

“I held on as best as I could but it spat me over quite nastily. My finger got stuck somewhere in the bike.

“The result was a broken finger and half the skin missing. Hopefully I might find the skin in the radiator.”

However, Polden expects to be fit for the next round at Assen, Holland, in a fortnight.

In the previous day’s race, Polden gave a storming display from 24th place on the grid.

After a good start, she passed six competitors on the first corner.

By the end of the ten-lap race, she had moved up to tenth place, and was the fifth-placed 125cc rider to finish.
