Oxford City Stars had double reason to celebrate after back-to-back South Cup victories.

Their 5-4 success at Coventry was followed by a stormy 5-1 win at home to Telford Tigers on Sunday, in which the visitors had Dave Fielder and Owen Bennett sent off. Stars Lee Featherstone also received his marching orders.

Tom Ledgard's opener for Coventry was cancelled out by Darren Elliott after an assist from Kent Johnson and Dean Francis.

Tom Pease restored the hosts lead, before Nick Eden and Grant Bailey set up Alan Green for the equaliser.

Francis netted following Eden's second assist to give Stars the lead, only for Ledgard to level.

Elliott made it 4-3 with a penalty after Green was pushed into the net.

Francis made it 5-3 after he was set up by Elliott and although Scott Murray got one back, Stars held firm.

Without the injured pair of Andy Cox and Will Skaife, against Telford, Stars took a fourth-minute lead through Elliott after good work from Francis and Dave Carr.

Johnson lashed home their second following an assist from Francis, with Sam Broughton and Jacob Smith letting in Patrick Knightley.

Featherstone hit No 4 with the help of Carr and Francis, only for the former to be sent off for fighting. It means Featherstone will miss Stars next match.

The game was then stopped after Telford's Graham Oldham knocked himself out after slipping over into the boards. He was treated for arm, shoulder and neck injuries at hospital.

After the delay, Knightley scored his second with an assist from Bailey.

It looked as though Stars netminder Kevin McGurk would get his first shut-out, but Telford clawed one back with just 23 seconds left to dash his hopes.
