OXFORD Hawks took the lead against lowly Eastbourne in Saturday’s South League Premier Division fixture but ended up going down 2-1.
Sam Chilvers set up their goal after 15 minutes, beating a couple of defenders before having his stick taken away from behind. Charlie Ellison netted the penalty flick. The outside of a post prevented Tom Godding from increasing the advantage and Eastbourne netted against the run of play to make it 1-1.
The second half belonged to Hawks, but poor finishing let them down and Eastbourne pinched the points with a second goal.
Witney hammered Gerrards Cross 7-1 to remain top of Regional Division 2.
The goals came from Dan Andrews (2), Julian Easterbrook, Liam Frost, Tim Hardy (2), Justin Peel.
Bicester pipped Ashford 1-0 in MBB&O Division 1 thanks to a goal from CJ Birtles.
