Ben Wilson came to the rescue as Oxford Hawks drew 1-1 away to Spencer with a much-improved display in South League Premier Division 1.

Spencer went ahead when converting a short corner, while Hawks were denied a penalty after Wilson’s legs appeared to be taken from under him.

The second half belonged to Hawks, thanks to the influence of Ethan Chapman in midfield and they equalised when Wilson deflected a ball hit into the D.

Oxford Hawks 2nd continued their march towards the Regional 1 title with a 7-0 trouncing of visitors PHC Chiswick.

Thomson Harris and Bas Marshall scored twice with the other goals coming from Mark Crowley, Ben Roe and Matt Wood.

A goal in each half from Ed Allen and teenager Tom Arnott allowed Wallingford to move up into the top half with a 2-0 home victory over Staines 2nd.

The hosts took the lead through Dave Sutcliffe and doubled it early in the second half as Adam Buxey tapped in from a short corner following CJ Birtles’s blocked shot.

West Hampstead scored a brilliantly struck short corner and then equalised from another penalty corner.
