Oxford Hawks flew the flag for Oxfordshire by winning the South Regional Indoor Tournament in Croydon after victories over Brighton, Teddington and Wimbledon.

Their squad of Alexa Thomas, Briony Hearn, Becky Hibbert, Becky Odlin, Bex Oakes, Kirsty Chapman and Olivia Clark now go through to the National League Division 2 tournament in January.

Young goalkeeper Clark made some fine saves to a secure a 4-3 win over Brighton in the opening game Oakes gave Hawks the lead against Wimbledon with a penalty flick, but they were indebted to more fine work from Clark and Odlin to edge home 4-3 again.

Hawks went a goal down against Teddington but hit back to run out 6-3 victors and take the title.

In league action, Witney went two points clear at the top of South League Division 3A after a convincing 4-1 win away to Wallingford.

Witney’s early pressure was rewarded by the opening goal via a short-corner strike from Katie Gatt.

A second followed shortly before half-time through Ellie Norton after a goalmouth scramble.

Wallingford came back strongly after the break, reducing the arrears with well-taken goal.

However, Witney stepped up a gear and Ellie Kearney made it 3-1 with an outstanding reverse stick shot.

In-form striker Hayley Dobson’s unstoppable strike wrapped it up.
