A TRIO of late goals saw Oxfordshire win 4-1 at Cardiff and the Vale to reach the semi-final of the English Schools FA Under 14 PlayStation Inter-County Cup.

Claudio Osorio’s eventful game began when he curled in the opening goal with a superb free-kick.

Oxfordshire’s central defensive pairing Tyan Hawkins and Matthew Davies were outstanding, but Cardiff’s pressure paid off just after the break, when Morgan Clarke equalised from 25 yards.

After weathering a storm from the Welsh side, the visitors hit back.

Osorio was brought down, only to see his penalty saved, but Latrell Humphrey-Ewers made it 2-1 with a tremendous 30-yard strike in the 75th minute.

Osorio did get his second of the game after good work from substitute Jacob Roberts, and debutant Connor Roberts rounded off the scoring in stoppage-time.

  • FREELAND recorded a 5-0 success at derby rivals Eynsham in the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division.

The visitors raced into a 3-0 lead with goals from Liam Harris, ex-Eynsham player Tom McCudden and Danny Taylor.

In the second half, they added further goals from Harris and Jason Lonsdale.

  • GOALS from Jacob Haynes and Jamie MacDonogh gave Carterton Rangers a 2-1 victory at FC Ascott to book a place in the Oxfordshire FA John Fathers Junior Shield semi-finals.

Tom Cairns replied.

Hanborough reached the last four with a 6-0 win at Tower Hill.

Craig Johnson and Jack Morton claimed braces, with Dan Haggie and Ian Steele completing the scoring.
