FUTSAL TOURNAMENT

TORRENTIAL rain may have virtually wiped out the youth football programme, but it didn’t stop 60 teams playing at the new Oxford City Indoor Arena in Cowley.

This new facility is a joint venture between the Oxford Mail Youth Football League and Oxford City FC.

And with five futsal pitches and three basketball courts, it came in to its own at the weekend.

Quarry Rovers TNT beat Oxford City 3-1 in the under 12 final, while Florence Park took the under 11 honours with a 2-1 victory over Fairford Leys, from Aylesbury.

Marston Saints came out on top at under 10, defeating Bure Park, from Bicester, 4-2 in the final.

Kidlington (under 9), Radley Youth (under 8) and Bullingdon Youth (under 7) were the other winners.
