TWO own goals helped Yarnton edge past visitors Northway 3-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Oxfordshire Senior League’s Ben Turner Cup in unusual circumstances.

Ben Hibbins and Lewis Higgins both bizarrely put the ball in their own net either side of Steve Litten’s strike to give the hosts a 3-0 lead at the break.

Northway responded in the second half through Robert Hatt and Ryan Thorne, but were left to count the cost of a missed penalty from Lewis Welby as they narrowly missed out.

David Murphy hit four goals as Berinsfield cruised into the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Intermediate Cup with a devastating 8-1 victory over Chinnor Res.

Charlie Lee hit a hat-trick and Mark Ingram netted the other to complete an emphatic victory for the home side.

Oxfordshire Charity Cup holders Oxford University Press edged into the last eight with a 4-3 win at reigning Banbury District & Lord Jersey FA champions Heyford Athletic.

The visitors led 3-0 at the break thanks to a Charlie Bough double after Ben Strong’s opener.

Heyford hit back before Sam Wharton restored the cushion, but two late strikes for the home side ensured a nervy finish.

Press clung on and face Charlton United in the next round.
