FOOTBALL: West wobble in chase for glory

West Witney missed the chance to pull clear at the top of the Witney & District FA Premier Division after being held to a 2-2 draw by Hanborough.

Craig Johnson and Dan Smith scored for Hanborough, with Shaun Rayfield and Kev Lewis replying for the hosts.

Aston and Carterton Town A shared the points after they drew 1-1.

Joe Hewer scored for Aston with Jason Lonsdale hitting back.

Witney Royals pulled away from the drop zone after a 3-1 win at fellow-strugglers Chadlington, with Stewart George, Luke Rippington and Lee Beer. George Slatter replied.

Charlbury won 4-1 at Minster Lovell, Craig McCullum (2), Shaun Gilbert and Mark Goode. Paul Wiggins was on target for the hosts.

Hailey Res’ Division 1 title bid was put on hold after Callum Mutch suffered a broken leg 20 minutes into the game against Kingham Res.

The hosts were leading 1-0 when the clash was abandoned.

Promotion chasing Bourton Rovers beat ten-man Freeland 6-0.

Josh Catling (2), David Gainford, Sam Mattock, Stephen Ternier and Phil Colmer were their other scorers.

Brize Norton drew 2-2 at home to Spartan Rangers.

Bartek Lachowicz and Oliver Hawkins netted for the hosts with Henry Clarke and Josh Grant hitting back.

FC Nomads won 3-1 at Carterton Pumas, with goals from Chris Lawrence, Darren Craig and James Hookins. Matt Willis replied.

North Leigh A drew 1-1 at home to Eynsham SSC, Tom Radburn and John Ayres the respective scorers.

Carterton Rangers continued their Division 2 promotion bid with a 3-2 victory away to Kirtlington.

Sam Bodinham and Alex Metcalfe scored for the hosts, but goals from Ben Pearce, Adam Lee and Lee Keyes edged it for Rangers.

Hollybush are hot on the heels of Rangers after a 4-1 success at Milton, with Eddie Brookes (2), Ben Reynolds and Milton old boy Ally Laing also on the scoresheet.

Ducklington Res strolled to a 3-1 victory at Witney Wanderers.

Stu Morrison netted for the home side, but Damon Tolley, Jack Mason and Hirsch-field gave Duck the points.

Finstock defeated Witney Royals Res 3-0.

Lee Travers scored twice and Barry Graves once.

Nathan Beckett hit five of Bampton United’s goals as they stormed to a 9-0 win at Kingham Res in Division 3.

Doubles from Lloyd Hancock and Ben Liddell sealed the demolition job.

Ducklington A boosted their survival hopes with a 3-0 home win against Brize Norton Res, thanks to goals from Antony Lune, Dave Baker and Gary O’Donovan.

Carterton Town B remain nine points clear at the summit after a 4-2 win over Middle Barton.

John Smales, Dan Sollis, Chris Jones and Adam Harris did the damage, with Charlie Yeomans and Martin Kay hitting back for the hosts.

Spartan Rangers Res remain in second following a 2-1 home win against Charlbury Town Res.

Jason King and Ben Allen scored for Spartan, with Jake Godfrey netting for the visitors.

It was a whitewash as Tower Hill smashed Wootton Res 11-0 in Division 4.

Jesse Lawrence banged in a four-timer with the rest being shared among Adam Bolley, Luke James, Jamie Goodwin, James Minion Jack Simpson and Connor Tinsley.

Tower Hill are almost certain to be playing in Division 3 next season with a win in their next match seeing them promoted as champions.

Corinthians look favourite to join them as they saw off Spartan Rangers A 5-1. Frank Webb scored twice with Mark Henderson, Alex Marsden and Dan Smith also netting.

Henry Macke replied for Spartan.

Eynsham SSC Res stay third after a 7-1 win over Chadlington Res.

Darren Mobey and Kev Webb each bagged a brace with John Griffiths, Dan Johnson and Shaun Rowbotham getting the others. Lee Woodward replied for Chadlington.

Kevin Davis netted a hat-trick in FC Hollybush Res’ 6-1 win over Milton Res.

Doug Mulvihill, Dean Spivey and Arron Hyatt scored the others after Sam Forster had given the visitors the lead.

Tom Madden hit a treble in Bampton United Res’ 4-4 home draw with Wychwood Forest.

Dan Paintin got the other with Tim Jacobs (2), Neil Mustoe and Ben Powell replied.
