FOOTBALL: Ardington go down fighting

OVERNIGHT Division 1 leaders Ardington & Lockinge saw their Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup adventure finally come to an end.

Ardington went down narrowly 2-1 at home to Chalfont Wasps from Hellenic League Division One East in the quarter finals.

Jonny Eudell scored their final goal in a cup run that saw them defeat three other sides from the higher Hellenic League.

Division 4 Kennington Athletic lost 4-2 on penalties in the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup after drawing 2-2 with Mortimer Res from Reading League Division 1 in their oft-postponed fourth round match.

Sam Childs and Stuart Dunham scored their goals.

Division 3 Stanford in the Vale also made an exit when they lost 2-0 at Eldon Celtic, from Reading League Division 2, in their fifth round encounter.

Division 3 Westminster claimed yet another higher league scalp in cup competitions with a 2-0 home victory over Division 2 Radley in the quarter finals of the War Memorial Cup.

Dean Sillence and Dave Field were their match winning heroes.
