MARK Jones is likely to shuffle his Oxford City pack for tomorrow’s third qualifying round clash against Hereford.

With a televised Emirates FA Cup second round match at Notts County next Saturday looming large, Jones wants to ensure his squad is fully fit and primed for a huge few days.

But the City boss is not suggesting wholesale changes, and views the FA Trophy as another opportunity to bring in good revenue, particularly with Hereford expecting to pack out Court Place Farm.

Jones, whose side stretched their unbeaten run to five matches with a 0-0 draw at Bognor Regis in midweek, believes his squad are in fine fettle, but wants to ensure that remains the case.

“Hereford is a good draw for us,” he said.

“Our players like playing games in front of big crowds, and by all accounts, they could be bringing 400 or 500 fans.

“The FA Trophy is a good competition and one we will certainly take seriously, but I will look to make one or two changes.

“We’ve had a lot of tough games in recent weeks, and we have arguably the biggest game in our history next week. I just want to make sure we keep everybody fresh, fit and available.”

Tuesday’s draw at Bognor lifted City out the relegation zone and Jones wants to keep the unbeaten run going.

“I was pleased with the result,” he said.

“It was a long midweek trip and we had come off the back of three very tough games.

“It was certainly tough on the legs, but I felt it was a good point. We had opportunities to win it, and I was pleased with our effort.

“We are grinding out results, so we can’t be disappointed.”

Reece Fleet is unavailable, but Lee Henderson and Rob Sinclair are likely to be fit.

Jones expects it to be an entertaining match and is keen for a positive result.

“We won’t be going for a draw, and certainly Hereford won’t be either,” he said.

“A replay would be the last thing either of us want.”

Oxford City (v Hereford, home): from Stevens, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Poku, Henderson, Oastler, McEachran, Fofana, Sinclair, Paterson, Hirst, Grant, Pearce, Tutton, Forde, Navarro.

Banbury United boss Mike Ford is philosophical about his side having to try again in their second qualifying round tie against Farnborough.

The original replay was called off last week as several Farnborough players failed to show up, citing traffic problems for their non-appearance.

But the FA have ordered the match to be played, and it takes place at the Banbury Plant Hire Stadium tomorrow.

The winners will be at home to Hartley Wintney on Tuesday.

Ford said: “The FA have made the decision, and of course we abide by that ruling.

“Financially it probably helps us, but the biggest financial gain is if we can win it and get the prize money.”

Ford was delighted with his side’s battling display against high-flying Slough Town in midweek, where they equalised twice to snatch a 2-2 draw.

He believes if his side can replicate that performance, it will stand them in good stead.

“It was a really good performance and a good result,” Ford said.

“To come back twice to get a good draw was pleasing, and we can’t wait for tomorrow.”

Elliott Sandy misses out as he is cup-tied for an otherwise full-strength Banbury squad.

Banbury Utd (v Farnborough, home): from Harding, Hawtin, Peake-Pijnen, Nash, Bradbury, Carnell, Pond, Louis, McDonagh, Self, Ngathe, Johnson, Howards, Winters, Wise, Sambrook, Finch.

Thame United look to reach the first round for the first time when they travel to Bostik League North side Haringey Borough.

The visitors are unbeaten in the league at home this season, but West has called on his side to continue their good form, with the reward a possible shot at a National League side.

West said: “I’ve been pleased with what we have been creating in the last few weeks.

“We’ve been defending a lot better too, so we are doing OK.

“It would be lovely to make round one and maybe get a big club.

“We have been working a lot harder as a team in the last few weeks, and long may that continue.”

West names an unchanged side from the one which beat Uxbridge in the league on Saturday.

Thame Utd (v Haringey Borough, away): from Hill, Murray, Lynn, Smyth, Hercules, Sturgess, Connell, Goss, Morris, Johnston, Gledhill, Evans, Harrison, Ricketts, Gray, West.
