JOINT manager Danny Nicholls hopes to bolster his Oxford City squad ahead of their trip to Eastbourne Borough in Vanarama National League South tomorrow.

After a run of five defeats from six games, which has left City just two points off the bottom of the table, and with injury concerns mounting, Nicholls believes now is the time for reinforcements.

"We're hoping to get a few fresh faces in ahead of the weekend," he said.

"We've been in discussions with players and if things go well we could have at least one in for the trip to Eastbourne.

"There are a few departments we're looking at in particular, but we need improvements throughout the team.

"We've been looking at some younger, hungrier players and there's one in particular who fits the bill that we're hoping to have in by the weekend."

Going the other way is striker Liam Enver-Marum, who scored twice on his competitive debut last month but has since failed to find the net and has been released.

Wide man Shaun MacAuley joins a growing list of injury concerns after twinging a hamstring in Monday's 2-1 defeat to Gosport Borough, with Lee Henderson (finger), Eddie Odhiambo (knee) and Tom Winters (groin) all looking to recover ahead of tomorrow's game.

With centre back Danny West making his senior debut in Monday's game, and fellow youngsters Jordy Ngathe and Kaylem Patterson on the bench, Nicholls has found himself with limited options.

But he believes that any squad he chooses tomorrow should be able to cause their opponents problems.

"Whatever team we put out, I know the lads will try hard and their workrate will be second-to-none," he said.

"But I think we need to cut out individual errors and start taking our chances.

"The good news is that we're creating chances, but we're still conceding too many goals."
