Didcot Town’s miserable form in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West continued as they went down to a 2-1 defeat at ten-man Mangotsfield on Saturday.

It stretched their winless run to eight matches.

Didcot started strongly and thought they had taken an early lead when John Mills’s header hit a post and appeared to go over the line after keeper Joe Perry clawed the ball back in play.

However, the referee ruled it hadn’t gone in despite protests from the visitors.

Didcot fell behind on 20 minutes when they failed to deal with a Mangotsfield free-kick and Marcus Mapstone fired home from close range.

But ten minutes later, the Railwaymen were level.

Good work from Sam Elkins put in Mills, who made no mistake for his 38th goal of the season.

Just before half time the hosts were down to ten men when Lewis Powell was sent off for a second yellow card for an elbow on Luke Carnell.

Didcot tried to make their man advantage tell with Mills going close with a header.

However, as Didcot piled forward, a swift Mangotsfield counter-attack saw Steve Davies tap in the winner from close range.

Didcot tried to get back in the game, but they were not able to produce any serious chances as their poor run continued.
